Top 10 Money Market Funds in Kenya 2025

Kenya’s Money Market Funds (MMFs) have grown rapidly in 2025, recording a 17% increase in assets under management (AUM) to KSh 372.8 billion, according to the latest Central Management Authority (CMA) data. The surge has been driven by demand for low-risk, high-liquidity investment products, with the top two funds accounting for nearly half the market.

  1. Sanlam Money Market Fund

The Sanlam Money Market Fund leads the market, ranking 1st with an AUM of KSh 92.7 billion (24.90%). Managed by Sanlam Investments East Africa Limited, it channels investments into government securities and corporate papers. Known for stability and accessibility, it continues to attract both retail and institutional investors.

  1. CIC Money Market Fund

The CIC Money Market Fund follows closely in 2nd place with KSh 87.8 billion (23.60%). Managed by CIC Asset Management, it invests in Treasury bills and fixed deposits. The fund has historically delivered yields above 10% and maintains a strong retail base with a minimum deposit of KSh 5,000.

  1. ABSA Shilling Money Market Fund

Ranked 3rd is the ABSA Shilling Money Market Fund, with KSh 23.1 billion (6.20%). Backed by ABSA’s banking network, the fund invests in short-term securities and remains attractive for investors seeking liquidity and low-risk exposure.

  1. ICEA Lion Money Market Fund

The ICEA Lion Money Market Fund takes 4th position at KSh 20.2 billion (5.40%). It benefits from ICEA Lion’s strong insurance foundation and invests mainly in government securities and deposits. Current yields hover around 11%, supported by its focus on stability.

  1. Co-op Money Market Fund

In 5th place, the Co-op Money Market Fund holds KSh 19.5 billion (5.20%) in AUM. Leveraging its connection to the cooperative sector, the fund invests in Treasury bills and other short-term instruments, with yields averaging 11–12% in 2025.

The Old Mutual Money Market Fund ranks 6th, managing KSh 19.5 billion (5.20%). Operated by Old Mutual Investment Group, it offers daily liquidity and requires a minimum investment of KSh 1,000. Yields have averaged around 11% this year.

  1. KCB Money Market Fund

At 7th position, the KCB Money Market Fund has KSh 15.8 billion (4.20%) in assets. Backed by KCB Bank, it invests in government securities and deposits. The fund’s low entry requirements and daily accessibility make it popular among retail investors.

  1. Britam Money Market Fund

The Britam Money Market Fund, ranked 8th, manages KSh 12.9 billion (3.50%). Managed by Britam Asset Managers and supported by Equity Bank as custodian, it invests in fixed-income securities, delivering yields of 9–10% in 2025.

  1. Etica Money Market Fund

The Etica Money Market Fund takes 9th place with KSh 10.6 billion (2.80%). Marketed as an ethical investment option, it invests in high-quality securities, recently yielding around 9.86%. It has gained traction among socially conscious investors.

  1. Zidi Money Market Fund

Completing the Top 10 Money Market Funds in Kenya 2025, the Zidi Money Market Fund holds KSh 10.2 billion (2.70%). Integrated with Safaricom’s M-Pesa and managed in partnership with firms such as Sanlam, it offers daily returns and accessibility via mobile platforms.
