M-PESA Ethiopia Arada Enhun Promotion

How M-PESA Ethiopia Merchants Can Win Up to ETB 1 Million in Arada Enhun Promotion

M-PESA Ethiopia has launched Arada Enhun, a 90-day national merchant promotion offering up to ETB 1 million in prizes and rewards for eligible merchants who increase their use of digital payment services.

The promotion is designed to recognise and reward merchants for growing digital payment acceptance and supporting the expansion of digital commerce in Ethiopia.

Under the Arada Enhun promotion, eligible M-PESA merchants can earn opportunities to win prizes by accepting digital payments through M-PESA Scan and Pay and selling airtime and bundles through M-PESA.

Qualifying transactions generate draw codes, with each additional valid transaction giving merchants another opportunity to enter the draw.

How M-Pesa Ethiopia’s Arada Enhun Promotion Works

Arada Enhun uses a transaction-volume-based incentive structure, where qualifying digital transactions translate into raffle opportunities.

Eligible merchants automatically receive unique draw codes when they complete qualifying transactions. There is no manual registration or recording of individual sales required, as qualifying transactions are tracked through the M-PESA system.

The campaign allows merchants to increase their chances of winning by completing more qualifying transactions during the 90-day promotion period. Selected or top-performing merchants can win prizes of up to ETB 1 million.

M-Pesa Scan and Pay Transactions Qualify For Draw Codes

One of the main activities covered by the promotion is accepting digital payments through M-PESA Scan and Pay. Merchants can accept customer payments using their M-PESA Merchant QR Code or Till Number when customers pay for goods and services.

The M-PESA Merchant QR also allows merchants to accept payments from different banks and wallets. Customers can therefore pay using M-PESA or other participating digital payment channels through a single merchant QR code.

Each qualifying digital payment gives the merchant a draw code under the promotion, increasing their chances of winning as transaction volumes rise.

Airtime and Bundle Sales Also Earn Entries

M-PESA merchants can also earn draw codes by selling Safaricom airtime and bundles through their merchant accounts. The qualifying activity includes electronically selling airtime to customers and distributing prepaid voice, SMS and data bundles through M-PESA.

Merchants therefore have two main transaction categories through which they can earn entries: accepting digital payments and selling airtime and bundles.

More Transactions Increase Chances of Winning

The Arada Enhun promotion links the number of qualifying transactions to the number of draw codes earned by merchants.

Every valid qualifying transaction creates an additional draw code, meaning merchants conducting more eligible transactions receive more entries into the promotion.

The M-PESA system automatically records qualifying transactions and associates the resulting draw codes with the relevant merchant, eliminating the need for merchants to manually log their transactions.
