Bank of Zambia Sets Q4 2026 Debt Auctions, Introduces 20-Year Bond
The Bank of Zambia, acting as fiscal agent for the Government of the Republic of Zambia, on Friday detailed its planned government securities auctions for the fourth quarter of 2026, setting total sizes at K2,200 million for Treasury bills and K6,300 million for government bonds.
Treasury bill auctions will take place once every two weeks, while government bonds will be offered twice during the quarter, the central bank said in a statement.
In a notable development for Zambia’s capital markets, the Bank of Zambia also announced the introduction of a new 20-year government bond. The long-dated instrument will join the country’s suite of benchmark bonds and is intended to support the growth of longer-term financial products in the domestic market.
“The bond will form part of the bench-mark bonds and is aimed at facilitating the development and growth of longer-dated financial instruments in the market,” the Bank of Zambia said.

The announcement provides market participants with a clear schedule for the final three months of 2026 as the government continues to manage its domestic borrowing program through regular securities issuance.
