Ubuntu Tribe Launches in Kenya as Part of Broader African Financial Infrastructure Expansion
Ubuntu Tribe has expanded into Kenya as part of its broader strategy to support the development of regulated, compliant and interoperable financial infrastructure across Africa.
The company’s expansion into Kenya reflects its focus on building scalable financial systems that connect individuals, businesses, and institutions to asset-backed financial products through secure digital infrastructure.
The move comes as African markets continue exploring new approaches to cross-border payments, capital formation, digital assets and access to global financial systems.
Kenya remains one of Africa’s most established markets for mobile money, financial technology and digital innovation; making it a strategic market within the continent’s evolving financial ecosystem.
Ubuntu Tribe is focused on developing infrastructure that supports asset-backed financial products, digital payments and programmable financial systems designed for emerging markets.
“Africa’s next phase of economic growth will be shaped by the systems and infrastructure being built today,” said Mamadou Kwidjim Toure, CEO and Founder of Ubuntu Tribe.
“The key question is whether African individuals and institutions will meaningfully participate in, and own parts of these evolving financial systems. Our focus is on building compliant and scalable infrastructure that supports long-term economic participation across the continent.”
Toure has worked across infrastructure, finance, technology, and investment ecosystems for more than two decades, contributing to initiatives and transactions spanning multiple African markets.
Ubuntu Tribe’s ecosystem includes gold-backed savings infrastructure, digital payments capabilities, and asset-backed financial products designed for both individuals and institutions operating across emerging markets.
The platform currently serves users across more than 180 countries and has facilitated approximately US$500 million in precious metals trading activity.
Its flagship product, $GIFT Gold, is structured around gold-backed digital assets that enable savings, transfers, and transactions supported by underlying precious metals holdings.
Ubuntu Tribe says Africa is well positioned to participate in the continued growth of tokenized finance, digitally connected capital markets, and interoperable payment systems, particularly as financial and mobile technology adoption continues to expand across the continent.
Industry estimates project significant growth in tokenized real-world assets over the coming decade, while financial institutions globally continue investing in blockchain-enabled financial infrastructure.
Against this backdrop, Ubuntu Tribe believes African markets have an opportunity to strengthen financial connectivity through infrastructure that prioritises compliance, interoperability, and broader access to capital.
The company says Kenya’s role as a regional financial and technology hub makes it an important market within its long-term African expansion strategy.
