Sidian Bank Partners With Kenya Industrial Estates to Support Manufacturing MSMEs

Sidian Bank has partnered with Kenya Industrial Estates (KIE) to expand access to financing and business development support for micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in manufacturing and value addition.

The partnership was formalised through a Memorandum of Understanding signed by Sidian Bank Managing Director and CEO John Okulo and KIE CEO Nelson M. Kwamini. The signing was witnessed by Susan Mang’eni, Principal Secretary in the State Department for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development.

The agreement brings together Sidian Bank’s commercial banking capabilities and KIE’s industrial development mandate to address financing, technical and business development challenges facing MSMEs.

Businesses to Access Training and Larger Credit Facilities

Under the agreement, Sidian Bank and Kenya Industrial Estates will collaborate on MSME training, capacity building, customer referrals and access to graduated and blended financing.

Businesses will be able to move to larger credit facilities as they increase their operational and financial capacity. The partnership will also provide market linkages and business solutions alongside financing.

KIE will identify qualifying manufacturing enterprises and support them through enterprise advisory services, incubation facilities and manufacturing sheds. Its support will include businesses operating through local industrial development initiatives.

Sidian Bank will provide commercial financing to eligible enterprises, including larger credit facilities for businesses that have progressed beyond the level of support available through KIE.

Partnership to Link Incubation with Commercial Financing

The institutions will establish referral pathways through which businesses can transition from KIE-supported incubation into commercial banking.

The framework will also explore blended finance and co-funded resource mobilisation to increase the financing available to qualifying enterprises.

Training will cover areas including digital financial inclusion, market linkages and operational resilience, while the partnership will seek to connect financing with County Aggregation and Industrial Parks (CAIPs) and other local manufacturing initiatives.

The arrangement is intended to give MSMEs a structured path from enterprise development and incubation to commercial financing as their businesses expand.
