NCBA Uganda Launches “Ku NCBA Kiggwa Ku Bwerere” Campaign to Support SME Growth
NCBA Bank Uganda has launched a new Business Banking Customer Value Proposition aimed at helping Ugandan enterprises access financing, digital tools, and strategic support to drive sustainable growth.
The launch, held at Four Points by Sheraton Kampala, also introduced the “Ku NCBA Kiggwa Ku Bwerere” campaign, which seeks to make business banking simpler, faster, and more accessible for entrepreneurs and growing businesses across Uganda.
The new proposition comes as businesses continue to face challenges related to access to affordable financing, cash flow management, operational efficiency, and building structures that support long-term expansion.
NCBA Uganda said the Business Banking offering is designed to address these challenges through tailored financial solutions, dedicated relationship management, and practical support that aligns with the different stages of a business’s growth journey.
NCBA Uganda Targets SMEs with Tailored Business Banking Solutions
Speaking during the launch, NCBA Uganda Chief Executive Officer Mark Muyobo highlighted the important role played by small and medium-sized enterprises in Uganda’s economy.
“SMEs account for over 70% of Uganda’s private sector activity, yet many still face financing and operational challenges. Through this proposition, we are providing the solutions, expertise, and partnerships businesses need to grow with confidence,” Muyobo said.
He added that NCBA Uganda’s approach extends beyond traditional lending by creating an ecosystem that strengthens businesses through financial solutions, advisory support, and partnerships.
“We are building an ecosystem that goes beyond financing, one that strengthens businesses and supports their long-term ambitions,” he said.
Moving from Transactional Banking to Business Partnerships
NCBA Uganda Head of Business Banking Kizza Bashir said the new proposition was developed after listening to customer needs and understanding the challenges businesses face in their daily operations.
“This proposition is built on listening to our customers and understanding their realities. We are moving beyond transactional banking to relationship-driven partnerships that deliver measurable growth,” Bashir said.
The lender said the proposition focuses on supporting businesses through dedicated engagement, faster access to financial solutions, and services designed around entrepreneurs’ operational needs.
Supporting Sustainable Business Growth through Strategy and Training
NCBA Uganda Head of Strategy and Sustainability Martin Mwanje noted that long-term business growth requires more than access to capital. He said businesses need strong governance structures, clear strategies, and the ability to adapt to changing market conditions.
“Sustainable growth requires more than access to capital, it demands clear strategy, strong governance, and the ability to continuously adapt,” Mwanje said.
As part of the initiative, NCBA Uganda has partnered with MAT ABACUS Business School to provide an Enterprise Development Programme aimed at strengthening business management capabilities.
Professor Samuel Sejjaaka, CEO of MAT Abacus, said many businesses struggle not because of insufficient capital but due to weaknesses in governance, structure, and strategic planning.
“Many businesses don’t fail due to lack of capital, but because of gaps in structure, governance, and strategic direction. Bridging that gap is critical to achieving sustainable growth,” he said.
