Safaricom has launched the M-PESA Sokoni Festival 2025, a two-month nationwide celebration marking 25 years of Safaricom’s operations and the 18th anniversary of M-PESA.

The festival kicks off on June 7, 2025, at the Mombasa Sports Club Grounds, and will tour at least six cities across Kenya, including Kisumu.

The M-PESA Sokoni Festival is designed to promote M-PESA’s digital and financial ecosystem, reward customers with exclusive deals, and create visibility for local entrepreneurs.

Under the theme “deals kuruka”, over 150 businesses, both local and national, will showcase discounted products including smartphones, home electronics, beauty and fashion items, travel packages, and other household goods.

The festival offers free entry to all attendees and features family-friendly entertainment, such as live music, sports events, and cultural showcases.

While specific performers have not been announced, each stop on the tour is expected to offer a mix of interactive experiences that align with Safaricom’s commitment to supporting Kenyan culture and passion points.

Customers who cannot attend in person can still access Sokoni Festival deals online through Masoko.com via Saffire Connect, ensuring national reach for the campaign. This digital access allows users across Kenya to benefit from the same promotions available on-site.

Beyond product discounts and entertainment, the festival includes an educational component to promote awareness of Safaricom’s newer offerings. These include:

  • Ziidi MMF, a mobile money fund service
  • Taasi Till and Taasi Pochi, business-focused payment solutions
  • Fuliza ya Biashara, an overdraft service for businesses
  • Pochi la Biashara, a business savings wallet
  • Lipa na M-PESA, a digital payments service
  • Safaricom Hook, a youth engagement platform for jobs and skills
  • Safaricom Emerald, a premium service package
  • Masoko, the company’s e-commerce platform

The M-PESA Sokoni Festival 2025 positions itself as a platform where customers can discover new products, enjoy entertainment, and interact directly with brands and entrepreneurs.

As Safaricom continues its 25th anniversary celebrations, the festival combines consumer offers with a showcase of its digital transformation efforts.
