Absa Bank Kenya, Simba Corp Sign MOU to Expand Vehicle and Equipment Financing
Absa Bank Kenya has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Simba Corporation Limited to expand financing for vehicles and equipment used by individuals, businesses and agricultural enterprises.
The agreement will allow customers to access financing for passenger and commercial vehicles as well as agricultural machinery through Simba Corporation’s dealerships.
The MOU was signed by Absa Bank Kenya Corporate and Investment Banking Director James Agin and Simba Corporation Executive Director Suraj Shah.
The partnership falls under Absa Bank Kenya’s KSh100 billion asset financing commitment, which is being deployed through the lender’s revamped Asset Financing proposition.
The arrangement is intended to give customers access to structured loans that can spread the cost of acquiring vehicles and machinery over an agreed repayment period, reducing the amount of cash required upfront.
Absa Kenya, Simba Corp Financing Arrangement
Under the agreement, customers will select eligible vehicles or equipment from Simba Corporation before accessing financing from Absa Bank Kenya. The bank will provide financing structures based on the customer’s requirements, with repayment terms that can be structured around different cash-flow patterns.
The partnership also creates an integrated process between the lender and the dealer to simplify documentation and facilitate the processing of asset-financing applications. The asset being financed will typically serve as the primary security for the loan, subject to the applicable financing terms and customer assessment.
Farmers, agricultural cooperatives and agro-processing businesses will be able to use the facility to finance equipment such as tractors, harvesters and other specialised agricultural machinery.
The financing gives agricultural enterprises an option to acquire machinery without committing the full purchase price from their own cash resources. The equipment can then be used in farming and agro-processing operations while repayment is spread over the agreed financing period.
The agreement also targets micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) and larger companies that require vehicles for their operations. Logistics firms, distributors, construction companies, schools and other organisations can finance commercial vehicles including trucks, pickups and buses.
Simba Corporation represents automotive brands including Fuso, Mahindra and Mitsubishi in Kenya, providing customers with access to a range of commercial and passenger vehicles.
For businesses, vehicle financing can be used to expand fleets, replace existing vehicles or acquire additional capacity for transportation and distribution activities.
Individual customers, sole proprietors and professionals can also access financing for vehicles with personal or commercial applications. The facility can support the acquisition of utility vehicles used for activities such as deliveries, transport and other income-generating operations.
