Google Accelerator Africa 10

How Banking Startups Can Apply for Google Accelerator Africa 10

Google has opened applications for the 10th cohort of its Google for Startups Accelerator: Africa, a 12-week hybrid program designed for growth-stage African startups leveraging artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML).

The initiative explicitly targets Series A companies building Africa-centric solutions, including those in the banking and financial services sector.

The program will run from April to June 2026 and combines remote and in-person sessions. Participation is equity-free, allowing founders to retain full ownership of their companies. Applications close on March 18, 2026.

AI-Focused Growth for Banking and Fintech

The 2026 cohort is branded “AI First” and focuses on startups that integrate AI and ML deeply into their products. For banking startups, this includes applications such as KYC (Know Your Customer), credit scoring, fraud detection, and anti-money laundering (AML) solutions.

Participants gain access to Google’s global AI expertise, mentorship from experienced AI professionals, and specialized hardware including Cloud TPUs, which help process large datasets commonly found in financial services.

Previous cohorts have included startups like E-doc Online, which offers credit checks and banking data analysis; Pastel, a fraud detection platform for financial institutions; and AppZone, which automates banking operations.

Program Benefits and Technical Support

Startups accepted into the Google Accelerator Africa 10 cohort will receive one-on-one mentorship from Google engineers, eligibility for up to $350,000 in Google Cloud credits, and structured workshops covering product design, customer acquisition, and leadership development.

Participants also gain early access to new Google AI tools as “Trusted Testers,” giving them a technical edge in product development.

The program is positioned as a selective pipeline for companies that have passed early experimentation and are focused on scaling. Google emphasizes hands-on technical support, structured networking, and ecosystem access to strengthen both product execution and go-to-market readiness.

Eligibility and Requirements

To qualify, startups must be growth-stage, ideally at Series A, with a live product and measurable traction in the market. AI or ML must be a core component of the product or roadmap. Founders are expected to demonstrate a clear total addressable market, a scalable product or service, and a defensible growth model.

A commitment from the CTO or lead technical officer to participate in all 12 weeks of the program is required. Eligible companies should be based in Africa or developing solutions primarily for the African market.

Applications for Cohort 10 close on March 18, 2026, and interested startups can apply through the Google for Startups portal.
