Victoria Cherotich Takes Over as Equity Group Company Secretary, Replaces Lydia Ndirangu
Equity Group Holdings has appointed Victoria Cherotich as its new Group Company Secretary, with the appointment taking effect following formal approval from the Central Bank of Kenya (CBK).
Victoria Cherotich, an accomplished Kenyan finance and corporate governance executive, replaces Lydia Ndirangu. She is known for her steady rise from entry-level administrative roles to senior corporate leadership positions and has established herself as a notable figure in East Africa’s capital markets.
Her achievements have earned her recognition among Kenya’s Top 40 Under 40 women leaders.
Victoria Cherotich brings more than 15 years of experience in securities registration, governance advisory, and regulatory compliance. Cherotich holds an MBA in Strategic Management and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Sociology from the University of Nairobi.
She is a Certified Public Accountant (trained at Strathmore University), a Certified Secretary issued by KASNEB, an Accredited Governance Auditor, and a Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) Certified Sustainability Professional.
Victoria Cherotich’s career path includes serving as Group Registrar General and Director of Governance & Strategic HR at Equity Group Holdings from November 2024 until her latest appointment.
Prior to that, she was Chief Executive Officer of Image Registrars Limited from April 2023 to 2024, where she oversaw dividend administration, treasury operations, and digital corporate actions at one of East Africa’s leading securities registrar and corporate secretarial firms.
She also served as Company Secretary for listed Kenyan companies including Sameer Africa PLC, The Standard Group PLC, and Sasini PLC. Cherotich began her career in 2006 as a registry clerk at Image Registrars Limited during Kenya’s IPO boom, rising through operational roles over nearly two decades.
She is an active member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK), the Institute of Certified Secretaries (ICS) Kenya, and the Women on Board Network.
Lydia Ndirangu is transitioning to a newly designated senior role as Group Chief Tax, Regulatory Affairs & Sustainability Officer.
Drawing on her extensive legal and tax background, including previous service as Equity’s Group Head of Tax and experience at EY and KPMG, she will focus on the group’s cross-border tax strategies, regulatory compliance, and environmental, social, and governance (ESG) initiatives across East Africa.
Equity Group Board Chairman Prof. Isaac Macharia said the strategic reshuffle strengthens both the bank’s board-level corporate governance and its regional compliance framework at the same time.
