Ecobank Uganda has partnered with Interswitch Uganda, a leading African digital payments and commerce company, in a move to accelerate digital transformation and expand financial inclusion.

The collaboration is set to redefine the banking experience in Uganda by enhancing accessibility, convenience, and security for individuals and businesses alike.

Through this partnership, Ecobank Uganda customers will now have access to over 650 Interswitch-enabled ATMs nationwide, greatly expanding the bank’s reach, especially in underserved and remote areas. This development allows for more convenient cash withdrawals, deposits, and other banking services.

The integration with Interswitch’s payment network also ensures faster, more secure digital transactions, offering customers smooth experiences across mobile apps, online platforms, and point-of-sale (POS) terminals.

Additionally, Ecobank Uganda will now acquire Verve cards, a widely accepted payment card scheme in Africa. This means Verve cardholders can transact with ease at Ecobank’s ATMs and POS terminals across the country.

The partnership is not only a boost for individual banking but also provides critical support to businesses, particularly small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). With Interswitch’s payment infrastructure, businesses can streamline payment collection processes, whether mobile or card-based, enabling them to digitize operations and tap into a broader market.

A central goal of the collaboration is to advance financial inclusion by combining Ecobank’s branch and digital network with Interswitch’s technologies to deliver affordable financial services. This synergy aims to draw more Ugandans into the formal financial system and promote a more inclusive economy.
