Dr. James Mwangi Urges Business Mobilization during CWEIC Meeting

Dr. James Mwangi, Chairman for East and Central Africa at the Commonwealth Enterprise and Investment Council (CWEIC), has called on the business community to rise to the occasion and take a proactive role in shaping global economic resilience.

Speaking during the CWEIC meeting at the Muthaiga Golf Club in Nairobi, Dr. Mwangi emphasized that this is a transformative time where businesses must mobilize to drive growth, stability, and direction amid evolving geopolitical challenges.

“This is an opportunity for us to step up, mobilize businesses, and provide direction,” said James Mwangi, reinforcing the pivotal role that enterprise can play in influencing the global economic order.

The Commonwealth Enterprise and Investment Council (CWEIC) meeting at the Muthaiga Golf Club brought together key industry leaders, entrepreneurs, and policymakers to explore ways in which businesses can leverage strategic partnerships to unlock new markets and foster cross-border trade and investment.

James Mwangi CWEIC emphasized the need to rethink conventional business models in light of diminishing traditional aid flows. He encouraged businesses to step in and bridge the gap by investing in long-term, scalable solutions that foster economic empowerment and societal progress.

Echoing this vision, CWEIC Chief Executive Rosie Glazebrook noted, “We are delighted to have our colleagues supporting us in this region to help businesses make those critical connections.”

The Commonwealth Enterprise and Investment Council (CWEIC) is a commercial, not-for-profit membership organization with an official mandate from the Commonwealth Heads of Government to promote trade and investment across the Commonwealth.

CWEIC uses the convening power and trusted network of the Commonwealth, which is led by His Majesty The King, to drive trade and investment.

CWEIC plays a crucial role in expanding global trade links, with a network of around 140 strategic partners, including Standard Chartered, Zenith Bank, and the Government of the Maldives,. Its signature event, the Commonwealth Business Forum, is held biennially in conjunction with the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM).

The Commonwealth itself comprises 56 nations and 2.7 billion people, 60 percent of whom are under 30, making it a dynamic and youthful market for future-facing businesses.
